This Privacy Policy explains how Wagr ("Wagr", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Wagr mobile app (the "App"). Wagr is a social app for tracking friendly wagers and the resulting tabs between friends.

Plain-language summary: We collect your phone number (to sign you in), your profile, and the bets/tabs you create with friends. We check your phone contacts to find friends already on Wagr, but we do not store your contact list on our servers. Wagr does not process payments or handle real money — tabs are settled directly between friends, outside the App. We use a few well-known service providers (listed below) to run the App. We don't sell your data.

Who this applies to

Wagr is intended for users 18 years and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Information we collect

Account & identity. Your phone number (used to sign in via our authentication provider) and the profile you create (display name, username, avatar).
Contacts (matching only). With your permission, Wagr reads your device contacts to check which of them already use Wagr so you can add them as friends. This matching is used to provide the friend-finding feature; your contact list is not stored on our servers.
Your content. The wagers, tabs, settlements, comments, and other content you create or exchange with other users.
Wager amounts. Amounts you record for a wager or tab. These are informational records only — Wagr does not process, hold, or transfer money; settlement happens between you and your friends outside the App.
Messages you compose with AI assistance. If you use the AI compose feature, the text you provide is sent to our AI provider to generate suggestions.
Usage & device data. Product-analytics events (screens viewed, features used), app version, device model, and operating system.
Push notification tokens. A device push token so we can send you notifications about your bets and tabs.

How we use information

To provide and operate the App.
To match your contacts to existing Wagr users for friend-finding.
To generate AI-assisted message suggestions when you use that feature.
To understand usage and improve features, reliability, and performance.
To protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats, and to comply with law.

How information is shared

With other users, as inherent to the App — e.g. friends you wager with see the shared bet, tab, and related activity.

With service providers that process data on our behalf to run the App:

Clerk — authentication / sign-in.
Convex — application backend and data storage.
PostHog — product analytics.
Expo — app delivery and push notifications.
Anthropic — AI text-suggestion generation (only the content you submit to the AI compose feature).

For legal reasons, where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. You can request deletion of your account and associated data; we will delete it except where we are required to retain it by law.

Security

We use reputable service providers and industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however.

Your choices

Contacts permission can be granted or revoked anytime in your device settings; revoking it disables contact-based friend-finding.
Notifications can be turned off in your device settings.
You may request access to or deletion of your data (see Contact).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
